Public invited to share views on Dogger Bank D’s Onshore Converter Station development, consultation opens 23 June and ends 3 August 2026.

  • Further engagement phase launched to enable communities and stakeholders to find out more about the development and invite feedback on early-stage design concepts.
  • Consultation runs from Tuesday 23 June 2026 to Monday 3 August 2026
  • Dogger Bank D team will host two in-person events in Beverley, East Yorkshire in early July

Dogger Bank D has launched a non-statutory consultation to provide communities and stakeholders with an update on the project’s proposed Onshore Converter Station and to invite feedback on early-stage design concepts.

The consultation runs from Tuesday 23 June 2026 to Monday 3 August 2026. The Dogger Bank D project team will also host two in-person events in Beverley, East Yorkshire and an online webinar in early July.

The non-statutory consultation relates to the onshore infrastructure for Dogger Bank D, a proposed fourth phase of the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the 3.6GW Dogger Bank Wind Farm currently in construction off the coast of England in the North Sea.

A fourth Dogger Bank phase has the future potential to unlock up to an additional 1.5GW in renewable electricity capacity at the Dogger Bank site for Britain’s energy system and would make the world’s biggest offshore wind farm even larger.

Dogger Bank D is being developed by 50:50 joint venture partners SSE and Equinor. The project would be located more than 210km off the Yorkshire coast and would comprise up to 113 installed offshore wind turbines on fixed bottom foundations as well as an offshore substation platform at the 262km2 seabed site. Also proposed is associated export and inter-array subsea cabling connecting with onshore infrastructure in East Riding of Yorkshire for transmission of the electricity generated by the wind farm to Britain’s national grid.

In April 2026, Dogger Bank D identified a zone to the south of Beverley as the preferred location for the development of the project’s Onshore Converter Station. The preferred zone was chosen based on its suitability for the safe construction and operation of an onshore converter station, while minimising environmental impacts and disruption to residents. The zone has a connecting cable corridor which has been previously described as E1 or the northern corridor in project proposals. Ground investigation works and trial trenching have been underway at the preferred zone in recent months and have now concluded.

The non-statutory consultation being launched gives the public an opportunity to learn more about how the Onshore Converter Station location has been selected and refined. This consultation will also seek views and invite comments on the emerging design approach for the facility. All documents will be available to view online from Tuesday 23 June at www.doggerbankd.com/ocs-consultation.

The consultation materials outline important factors for the development of the Onshore Converter Station such as technical and environmental assessments alongside coexistence with existing and potential future development, safety, landscape considerations and opportunities for planting and screening.

As part of the consultation, Dogger Bank D is also seeking feedback on early design concepts for the Onshore Converter Station, including roof forms, materials, colour palettes, landscape planting and ways the project could contribute to the local area.

Sophie Large, Senior Project Manager for Dogger Bank D, said:

“During our statutory consultation phase in 2025, individuals and stakeholders told Dogger Bank D that they wanted more detail on the development of the Onshore Converter Station. This consultation outlines our progress to date and shares more detail about the Project’s commitment to design development. The team are looking forward to welcoming the public to our consultation events and continuing the valuable conversations that inform and shape our proposals ahead of our planned Development Consent Order application in June 2027.”

The delivery of Dogger Bank D is subject to the project securing a Development Consent Order as well as a final investment decision by joint venture partners SSE Renewables and Equinor.
